Mus - Musca the Fly
Origin and History
One of the eleven southern constellations created by Pieter Dirksz Keyser and Frederick de Houtman in 1596. These were published in Plate Aaa of Johann Bayer, Uranographia (1603).

"God in his wisdom made the fly, and then forgot to tell us why," wrote Ogden Nash. But we answer: "The astronomers who invented Musca were Dutch, to give the Chameleon his lunch."
Musca the constellation is in the southern sky, not to be confused with Musca Borealis, an asterism in Aries.
