Observing

The "Observing" section of the website provides an introduction to the night sky. It explains how the sky appears at any given time, and how it changes from night to night and from season to season. Some pages are intended to assist the beginner just getting started. Other pages are for those seeking to master the techniques of observational astronomy before the advent of large modern telescopes. Other sections explore the cultural representation of the night sky other than those listed on the main navigation menu; for example, solar system objects, the Milky Way and Universe, equinoxes and solstices, archaeoastronomical alignments, instruments, etc.
